The IME Foundation is committed since 2003 in health cooperation in the Mediterranean and Middle East area having as target in particular children. The method proposed by IME - care, include training and transfer of know-how (clinical, scientific and managerial) has been designed with the aim of improving access to effective care in the beneficiary countries, through training of medical personnel, nurses and technicians.

The method proposed by IME is composed of shares of hematology care attendant training activities aimed at local professionals in Italy, from the network of hospitals that represent the best practice Italian, and on the ground, through organization of workshops and seminars .

IME has developed a model of integration of health facilities in the network and the connection between these structures and the different IME center exellence in Italy. This is all designed to foster a positive and lasting development of health facilities in various countries. In this way, we try to put at the service of the different health facilities, the know-how of IME readly.

The ultimate goal of this method is to ensure a gradual transfer to professionals of recipient countries, the clinical skills necessary for independent management of patients in such a way that the intervention not only pursue a purely humanitarian purpose or immediate relief to suffering population, especially children, but also that it will be useful to build a solid foundation for the provision of quality health services on site.

Experience with active projects, actions for declaration of health needs and supply in the countries reference, the dialogue at the highest institutional level and on whether the mode of operations, and the further implementation of operational plans concrete have allowed EMI to consolidate the various countries of the Mediterranean, Middle East and South East Asia, an image as a reliable partner for the design of regional health plans.

Countries which have signed working agreements with IME for the care of patients, training of health personnel and the creation of on-site health centers on the basis of clinical and scientific know-how of Italy; Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq , Palestine, Israel, Maldives, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates are in the process of signing further agreements are Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Jordan, Pakistan and China.

Clinical activity, training and transfer of know-how has been substantiated also in the treatment and / or transplantation of more than 300 children from all over the Middle East and Mediterranean region and with the 'start of training and training in Italy and / or on site, over 100 doctors, biologists and health professionals in partner countries.

To date, EMI has treated patients from many countries including Iraq, Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Kuwait, Albania, Argentina, Nepal and the United Arab Emirates , with a waiting list for further transplants.
